Local Real Estate Professional Certified to Address and eNCOURAGE the Benefits of Energy Efficiency and Green Features in Homes
Windermere agent Andrew Stone earns EcoBroker® Designation
Andrew Stone of Windermere Real Estate in Salt Lake City has earned the EcoBroker Certified® designation, having successfully completed a unique and informative training program on the energy and environmental issues that affect real estate transactions. Stone joins the movement of professionals pushing the real estate market toward energy-efficient, sustainable, and healthier design/features in homes and buildings. The “performance home” movement is getting a boost thanks to this type of high quality real estate professional earning the EcoBroker designation. EcoBrokers®, like Stone, throughout the country are forging this market and creating competitive advantages for their customers. With national surveys indicating that 80% of consumers consider themselves “green-minded,” real estate professionals with the EcoBroker designation are in a better position to serve the real estate consumer.
“I became an EcoBroker® in order to have the ability to place into my career a lifestyle I already live and love to share with others,” said Stone. “It is one thing to say you are green, but another thing to actually live green.”
EcoBroker® agents receive additional training and education about energy efficiency and the costs and savings that are associated with a variety of upgrades. Since Stone “lives green,” he has implemented many of those upgrades in his 100-year-old home. Last year he installed a 96 percent efficient furnace and replaced the windows in his basement with double-pane Low-e glass, both of which will help reduce their natural gas bill.
“Upgrading your current home, or looking for a home that is more energy efficient not only reduces the amount of wasted energy, but saves money on various utility bills,” said Stone. “With this designation I am able to better understand and market these elements of a home to buyers interested in having energy-efficient qualities in their future home.”
