Kyoto – Traditional Japanese in the Neighborhood.

There are a lot of places to eat sushi in SLC. Some are bad, some OK and few are fabulous. Kyoto is Fabulous! We typically eat here 2-4 times a month and almost sit at the sushi bar where the service is king and the chef’s are like your favorite bartender at your favorite bar on the corner.

When you sit down you will be promptly greeted by Akira and Mike and then the fun will begin. Conversation always flows easily and the sushi is always fresh. I highly recommend that you try the Aji and ask for the Aji Bono if you are daring enough to try the bones of the Aji deep fried like potato chips. Nothing is better. If Akira is in a good mood and it isn’t too busy, ask for a few of the special rolls that are not on the menu. All of the chef’s have a specialty.

If you go for a sit down dinner make sure you make reservations it is always busy and you will wait a long time if you don’t have reservations. For a sit down dinner the Udon is wonderful, the Terriyaki dishes melt in your mouth and the Tempura is always light and delicious. I highly recommend you try the Agedashi Tofu as an appetizer, it is light and delicious and comes in a plentiful serving that could be a meal all it’s own.
