Review – Pago, SLC, UT

Rating: ★★★★☆

We tried Pago for the first time about 2 weeks ago and I have to say that I was impressed. Pago is a farm-to-table restaurant located in the 9th and 9th neighborhood of Salt Lake City.

We arrived on the first night of a new menu and the server was still familiarizing himself with the items, however he was still well versed and had personally tried many of the items on the menu. We finally settled on their specialty cinnamon beets as an appetizer and my wife ordered the pheasant while I ordered the Roasted Salmon.

The beets were incredible and being one who feels like beets typically taste like the dirt they grew in, I was pleasantly surprised! The flavor was luscious. My wife’s pheasant was also very good, though a little dry and my salmon was perfectly prepared.

There has been a lot of mention about Pago being very expensive and while I can see that being possible, I had the opposite experience. Our meal with appetizer and wine came to under $50. Not bad and certainly not outrageous.
