Review – Shivers, Salt Lake City, UT

Crushed Ice!!!! I love crushed ice in my drink and they have it here. While that is reason enough to give a place four stars, that is not why I gave Shivers four stars.

I have driven by Shivers many many times and never at mealtime, but today I was between appointments and previewing homes for clients and it was lunch time. Finally the right moment to stop in.

Shivers looks to have taken up quarters in what was once an Arctic Circle. Old Arctic Circles always seem to become mom and pop burger joints, anyway, I walked in and they had the menu I was looking for. It was large with everything from pastrami burgers to Fish and chips, Ice cream cones to peach cobbler shakes and fries to fried pickles. My favorite though, ENGLISH CHIPS! They have ENGLISH CHIPS! So rare these days.

I ordered the Bacon Double Cheeseburger, English Chips and an Iced Tea. The burger was a mom and pop burger joint classic. Two 8/1 patties (1/4 pound), 3 strips of bacon and two slices of American cheese and all the typical toppings. It was delicious! Juicy on a very nice bun.

The milk shake list is endless! While I didn’t order one, I saw other orders and they looked great! I will have to go back for a shake and edit my review later.

I am not fond of chain burger places (with the exception of Arctic Circle) and this place is the reason why. Why eat at Mc D’s when you can get English Chips and crushed ice along with a juicy American Cheese Burger at Shivers????
